Saturday, I had worked through several issues with colors of cement/mortar, types of rocks, colors of rocks and size of angle iron for headers. All in all, I spent mucho money in preparation for putting stone on the house.
The first thing to arrive on Monday was the cement which I had placed in the Garage since we are due ANOTHER storm tonight that the weatherman says will dump about 3-4 inches of rain.
This didn't look like much angle iron but it is sold by the inch for $.48 an inch and I purchased 942 inches. You figure it out.
The 3 inch pipe you see laying on the ground just beyond the angle iron is to be buried around the perimeter of the foundation to collection rainwater from the gutters. About the only place it will have to be dug down into the ground is right at the opening to the garage since the rest of the foundation is raised about 2 ft and will be covered with top soil.
85 bags of cement at $11.00 a bag...You figure the cost.
Large dump truck which is only 1/3 the amount I will eventually get.
They estimate I will need 50 yards of masonry sand at $35 a yard. You figure the cost. The driver took about 30 minutes to get the sand back onto this location but I was glad he did since we still have to have room for 62 tons (124,000 pounds) of white native limestone at $65/ton. Now how much is all that? And that is just the supplies for the masons!
We will see how much of this sand is still in a pile after the storm is over. I tried to cover it but it is a big pile of sand.
